NSS annual camp
ITANAGAR, Dec 27: NSS unit of Government Higher Secondary School Sagalee organized its annual day camp at Government Girls Residential School Sarkhahappa under Sagalee circle recently.
On the occasion the NSS volunteers constructed temporary fencing around the girl’s hostel and also cleared jungle and constructed footpath in the vicinity of the girl’s hostel.
The valedictory function was attended by ADC Sagalee Chukhu Talar, GHSS Sagalee Principal Hage Taker, Donyi Polo Mission School Sagalee Principal GP Saxena, Government Girls Residential School Sarkhahappa Headmaster Ngurang Rikam and others.

ITANAGAR, Dec 27: Anchal Samity Member of Sakiang has deeply mourned at death of Nabam Nikam and Nabam Yakap who died in a tragic road accident at Mengio on 24th December. Late Nikam and his sister Yakap were from Pacho Village under Sakiang Panchayat of Mengio circle in Papum Pare district. Tuki pleads for higher allocation of funds for development projects
ITANAGAR, Dec 27: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki strongly pleaded for higher allocation of central funds for various developments projects, saying additional resources would accelerate growth and improve infrastructure in the state.
Addressing the 57th National Development Council meeting, Tuki said the state needed financial resources to the extent of almost Rs 13,000 crore for implementing joint venture power projects along with private operators or PSUs.
"I would urge the national government to provide us this funding in a phased manner over a period of next eight to ten years," he said.
Tuki said that delay in forest clearances continues to be a cause of concern, delaying many components of our power projects, beyond repair. While the concept of a single window clearance committee for technical, environmental and forest clearances is being mooted for some time now, little has been achieved on ground. In a State where the forest cover is already in excess of 82%, it becomes difficult to locate additional land for compensatory afforestation, Tuki said and hoped these points will be kept in mind by the decision makers while making the forest clearances, more liberal and flexible.

TKSC appeals for peace & harmony
CHANGLANG, Dec 27: Normalcy returns to Miao as the Singphos and Chakmas joined hands with administration to construct two houses at Khagam village on the same spot where the houses were set on fire on December 24 in the unfortunate communal clash.
Under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner, Changlang, both communities contributed not only in the form of labour but also gathered the required construction materials. Two beautiful houses were constructed using bamboos and CGI sheets and handed over to the victims. The District Administration also donated essential household items like blankets, mats, utensils, rice, salt etc. to help the victims to start a new life.
The DC said that the houses constructed by the stakeholders of the peace would serve as a symbol of peace for the generations to come.

Meanwhile, Tai Khampti Singphow Council (TKSC) is deeply hurt by the recent incident of communal clash at Miao in Changlang District between the two communities following the skirmish on M’Pen land dispute.
Condemning the dastardly act of burning and ransacking of houses, the Tai Khampti Singphow Council urged the people of both the communities to maintain utmost restraint to normalise the situation and continue to work together for restoring peace and harmony.
The indigenous Singphows have been living together with the Chakmas and the other communities since decades without differences, the TKSC said, and urged the state government to look into the matter and thoroughly investigate the incident to unearth the truth behind it so that the culprits can be brought to book.
Siram inaugurates Capacity building training prog
PASIGHAT, Dec 27: Education helps state to march forward socially and economically, said Education Minister Bosiram Siram while inaugurating a Capacity building training under Saaksar Bharat Mission (SBM) program for resource persons and master trainers of East Siang and Tirap districts held at the Bharat Scouts and Guide hall, Pasighat today.
Our state is late starter in the field of education and such flagship program was launched in the state to make quick progress particularly in education sector.
He further said that education would remove persistent hunger, poverty and disease, we would make sustained efforts for social and economic empowerment making the state educated and beautiful.
He expressed hope that the SBM would involve the entire community including PRIs and women self help groups in its endeavor.

Atleast four government bachelor barracks of PWD alongwith all their belongings and a bike were completely gutted down in Poma under Sangdupota Circle of Papum Pare district on December 25.
Victims Satem Pegu, Taba Yami, Korne Bhadur Chetry and Don Bhadur Thapa were provided some financial assistance from AAPWU as an immediate relief.
Meanwhile, AAPWU demanded for providing immediate relief for the fire victims from the district administration, local MLA and APB&OCWWB as all are registered workers of the Board.

He further directed that every department shall ensure proper measures to prevent revenue leakage which will be personally monitored and cross checked by him. Every department shall keep accurate reports of revenue generations, he said and asked the EE (Elect), Dept. of Power and PHED to disconnect the unauthorized power and water supply connections which cause govt. revenue leakage. He also assured these departments of all possible support from the district administration.
The DC directed LRSO for immediate realization of outstanding land revenues from the private Individuals and Govt. departments to whom the govt lands are already allotted. The HoDs are directed to get the formal land allotment from the Govt. and pay the required land revenues. The HoDs were also advised to maintain work culture and seek prior approval from the DC before leaving the station either on tour or leave in compliance of the Govt. order.

According to the local people, illegal activities like poaching, fishing and killing of domesticated Mithun besides destruction of forest wealth is going on unabated in the forest area for the last couple of months. The locals alleged that the poachers and hunter are having a field day in Ramle Banggo area, but the forest department (Wildlife) is quite silent over the issue.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the alleged failure of the forest department to stop illegal activities in the forests, the public leaders of Kora village, through a memorandum urged the East Siang Deputy Commissioner RK Mishra and local MLA to impose strict ban on all such illegal activities. They also urged the authority to take step for seizure of guns, which are used in poaching of wild lives.
MLA Tako Dabii, who visited Kora village along with the DC and a hosts of government officials today, sat in a meeting at newly opened Ramle Community hall. They also visited the Kora Circle Office site at Kora village outskirts and took stock of progress of the office building and other construction works. He also inaugurated the recently upgraded Government Secondary School at Korang.
Dabii in his address urged the villagers to extend active cooperation to the government departments for successful implementation of the developmental schemes. He regretted absenteeism by government officers and officials posted in his area and asked them to stay in their respective place of posting. He called the DC for taking steps to ensure regular attendance of officers in the government offices.
Dabii claimed that he has accorded priority to development of surface communication, health and education in the constituency.
Addressing the meet, the DC called on the people to extend their cooperation for strengthening the administrative machinery. He assured to issue strict order to the Gaon burahs and officers concerned to deal with poaching, fishing other than traditional methods and other illegal activities in the area within the next three days.

We are awaiting for justice
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I, on my personal behalf and on behalf of the poor,
ignorant and illiterate parents of the deceased girl, would like to make an ardent
appeal to revered commission viz. Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW),
North East Network etc. and the apex students’ organisation viz. All Arunachal Pradesh
Students’ Union (AAPSU), All Tawang District Students’ Union( ATDSU), NGOs and the
civil societies of the state to come forward in seeking quicker justice on “ GANG
RAPE AND MURDER CASE” of a minor girl named Late Dawa Drema hailing from Jungba-
All the accused was arrested but it is very unfortunate to share that after 123 days
of the arrest, the investigation team has failed miserably in filing the charge Sheet
within 90 days which is mandatory period of filing the charge sheet. Now, it has
been observed, according to the updates that all the arrested accused are one by
one, eventually granted bail with latest release of two prime culprits on bail by
the court of Addl. District & Session Judge, West Session Division, Bomdila on the
ground of accused being juvenile. Till now 3 person has been given bail though crime
in question is cognizable, non-
It is sheer case of gang rape and homicide according to the available circumstantial evidence and autopsy report of the case. But, I failed to understand why the case registered is of murder only vide reference Jang PS case no. 07/2012 u/s 302 IPC, Dtd 29/08/2012 whereas appropriate section for criminal conspiracy, abduction and rape also should have been charged with. Also, I pour down my strongest word of condemnation upon the all concerned for their callousness, ineffectualness and laxness in investigation, charge sheet filing etc.
As, I am gagged, so are the poor and illiterate parents and other family members of the victim girl who were waiting for the justice to be granted at the earliest. Their faith and trust on the judiciary and the police system is waning down and they are left with no other alternative then to surrender before the corrupt system or resort to democratic means for seeking justice.
Reaffirming my solidarity with deceased family, I strongly register my protest for immediate cancellation/revoking of the bail orders and assert more affirmatively on the demand for capital punishment for all accused arrested in the case.

Prof (Dr) Jayadeba Sahoo created a masterpiece over Christmas in a section of local news papers on Dec 25, 2012 which creates confusion. It seems that he wants to convey that Christmas is the birthday of Lord Shiva. Sahoo sir should have thought cautiously before such writing. Otherwise, such thing can mistakenly commit a great mistake. We should not try to deny or distort established history and facts for the sake of present. 25th Dec of every year is celebrated as birthday of Lord Jesus in Christianity through the centuries. So birthday of Lord Jesus should be related to Lord Jesus. Likewise birthday of Lord Krishna should be related to Lord Krishna and birthday of Lord Shiva should be related to Lord Shiva so on and so forth. Otherwise, it is like laying eggs in other’s nest. Every auspicious occasion has its own sanctity.

Dear Editor
There is popular saying which goes like this “charity begins at home.” Well, am writing in regards to recent rally taken out in Itanagar to protest Delhi gang rape incident. I appreciate organizer for organizing such kind of rally but I also want to ask few question to them. There has been numerous cases of rape related incident in the state. Of them, attempt to rape and brutual murder of a school girl at Yazali recently comes to our mind. She was a young school girl and had bright future ahead of her. Why there was no rally or protest held in Itanagar for her justice? Just because national media did not highlighted her case, even our social worker forgot her case. Her murderers were arrested after many months of incident but hardly any group made noise.
It is good to be part of national movement but let us first ensure that our own sister back home is given justice. Let the charity be begin at our home.

Average Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of top five states was 9.10 per cent in 11th five year plan, up from 7 per cent in 10th plan and 5 per cent in 9th plan.
Bottom five states also saw a significant average growth, with figures of 8.58 per cent in 11th plan as compared to 6.76 per cent in 10th plan and 4.12 per cent in 9th plan.
